    thrift day...

interestingly enough, i ended wearing an outfit mostly made of items i've gotten at thrift stores:i got the knoxville/jackass shirt from savers on maui. i love, love, love jackass and johnny and wanted that shirt when they first came out but would have never actually buy it. well, seeing it at savers was like a sign and i had to get it. the skirt is from a thrift shop sort of near my working place. it an old navy shirt that was like two sizes too big but luckily that's an easy fix, plus it was half price (the whole store was 50%off) so it was like $3 or something. the glasses were also thrift. and though i usually living in my $2 white sunglasses, today i changed it up a bit. i got this pair at savers too. they're "blue max" and the "cool" thing about them is they make everything have like a yellow/amber tint to them. apparently they block out blue light, whatever that means.
i should have worn one of my thrifted shoes to make the outfit complete (i don't own thrifted tights/leggings). but i ended up finding these at the thrift store i went to today: a new pair of black boots! and when i say "new" i don't just me new to me but i'm pretty sure these boots were never worn (i mean i found the cardboard thingy in the toe part of one of the boots still). these are from the thrift shop i got the skirt at and everything in the store was still 50% off so the boots also came out to $3.also as of late, i've developed a habit of picking up flannel/checkered shirt from thrift shops. i don't know why. i got this one today. it more of a purple/lavender color.and i got this one last time. classic red and black. oh and you can totally see a little into my closet, which hangs another of my flannels i got at a thrift shop (maui).
ok enough about clothes. onto books. i always take a look at the books in hopes of finding something good/interesting. today i found these:
i think the main reason i liked this book was because it was tiny, maybe a just a little bigger than a playing card. and this was inside: so really it's dictionary without the definitions. and one of the things i like about use books is seeing if there is something about their past owners. in this book, on the last pages that were blank was some writing. one of them was a list entitled funeral cards sent with a list of names. interesting and sad.
i also got this book. the title sounded fimilar, like it was made into a movie of something, but i wasn't so sure. i ended up just getting it because it ended up being a quater. plus i mean look at that cover how could it not be awesome, haha. i later googled the title and it was made into a movie, a disney movie! i don't think i've seen it though, however, gregory smith is in it and i find that intriguing.and apparently this copy once belonged to a ms. burton, i'm thinking a teacher.
i also got this book about music and storytelling. it had stuff about robin hood, king arthur, pinocchio, and like other things.i especially like the drawings/picture in the book.and of course, inside the front cover someone had a little note, this book being a gift to someone.
and the best find of books:
a hard cover harry potter and the sorcerer's stone!!! i was late on the potter book train in the start and bought 1-5 in paperback (i actually got 1-4 as a set). but i have always wanted them in hard cover, just not willing to pay so much for them. i got for $3 (original priced for $6). how could anyone give this up? who would give this up:

aw, it was a chirtmas gift. "hope you enjoy this -" looks like they didn't.i'm hoping this person already had a copy and/or read the book beforehand. because for real, this book was brand new. i mean it even still have the price sticker on...maybe it was a gift that never got given?i doubt it means anything special but it is a first american edition copy. what i did know was how on the copyright page there was a little summary section: rescued from the outrageous neglect of his aunt and uncle, a young boy with a great destiny proves his worth while attending hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. and i don't know why but i find it funny that it says schools - fiction. england - fiction. i know it probably means something, i mean i get how fantasy, witches, and wizards are listed as fiction but schools and england, huh?

ah, heroes is finally back on. sylar is still a badass and oh so gorgeous. and ando! love him. can't wait too see what this chapter has to offer. the plane crash kept me thinking of lost though.

and gossip girl also came back with something new, unlike last week. however, i hear both gg and oth are going a long break again. ugh. well, i guess it'll give me a chance to catch on on big bang theory and how i met your mother. and i won't have to worry much about switching between heroes and oth.

    till later.

the best of us can find happiness in misery...

needing a change of scenery, my mom and i went to check out this mall called victoria gardens. one of my co-workers told me about it. it's this big outdoor mall in rancho cucamonga, which is about 45-50mins away. it was nice getting to some place different. i guess that's one thing i like about living in california...just being able to drive off to some place new. though i wish i could explore places more, my mom is not a big fan of long drives so that does prove problematic. it would also be nice to have someone around who also shares the same interest as me, since my mom sometimes doesn't get everything i like.
anyway, the place was nice. the stores were cool. it was a good day. i ended up only getting one thing:i finally got my hands on my very own diy mini munny. i've been wanting one for awhile now and was set to buy one online...now i don't have to. i do plan on painting/drawing on it (who knows when that will be). but as of now, munny remains pure. i got it at a store called momotree. they had so many awesome stuff in there like other kidrobot stuff, hello kitty, tokidoki, other vinyl toys and more. i loved it.
oh i lied. i bought one more thing. a prince of persia ps3 game. i don't own a playstation, let alone #3. nor do i know what prince of persia is all about, other than jake gyllenhaal is doing a movie on it (how could i forget those long hair, shirtless photos of him online, haha). but i got the game for my cousin's son, who for some reason cannot get it on maui. so, really i didn't really buy it since i'll be paid back.
we ate lunch at a japanese restaurant there called kabuki. i had a spicy tuna roll and it was so good. i miss spicy tuna rolls. i need to eat sushi more often. sidenote: at the restaurant fob's i don't care played on the speakers and when it finished i actually found myself waiting for the next track to play, she's my winona, which is one of my favorite track on the cd. i was slightly disappointed of that fact. just shows i've been listening to folie a deux way too much (it's such a good cd...much better than the last one, way to go fob, way to go).
and before we left we stopped at the apple store so i could check out the new macs. it was packed in there. i really want a new laptop and a mac is on the top of my list...but that is a lot of money. i guess i'm going to think about it a little more. we shall see.
when we got back my mom still needed to go and check out a few places for things. we hit up micheal's and big lots. and guess what they now have at the big lots store:

they put in some new coin machines and one of them carrys these hello kitty figurines. oh no, not another reason to start carrying more quarters. i got these ones (minus the soccer hello kitty that i got at big city diner on oahu before watching ironman with the old neighbor boys and bri).

then we stopped into target. i bought a new hat. a change from all my beret beanies i tend to wear but when i saw it, i want it:

it's kind of has that old school flapper/cloche hat, kind of. love it.

and it just got better. a stop by the dvd/music section proved to be a good idea since the heroes season 2 dvd set was on sale...for $20. and so i got it. now i have something to hold me over till the show's back on. though i know i'll be done watching this by tomorrow, especially since it's such a short season.i really need to stop buying stuff.

and a tip for anyone who happens upon this - i just bought a pair of yellow tights no too long ago and found it had a hole in it (which could actually be a good thing...i still use my "holey" black tights) but these were new and never worn. anyway, i found a way to still wear them by wearing them under another pair. people seem to like the look, i got some compliments on them:you can kind of tell that they are yellow. plus wearing two layers of tights help when it's cold out.

    till later.

    a thousand lights shine...

i just bought a jay ryan print. when brooke showed me his book last year i just fell in love with his style and have always wanted to get a print. i've been looking at his store every so often to check out what i could get and the good thing was a lot of the prints weren't priced too high. today i got an email about some new prints that were added so it reminded me to check out his store and finally buy something. i ended up getting this one:it's a promo poster for his book 100 posters/134 squirrels (which is still on my list of must buys). i almost got his "pretty in pink" poster (ducky's on it!) but the book poster was only $10 while the other one was $20. i figured i could spare the $10+ shipping more than the $20+. i cannot wait till it's in my hands.

some other things i bought today and love:
    1. tasty watermelon juice from fresh & easy. the store just recently opened around here and it's amazing.
    2. christmas lights! they were 75% off at walmart. i use to have some at my apartment at school and knew i wanted some for my room...and they are perfect:
when i actually clean up my mess of a room i might post more photos of it. i still have yet to get it to where i want it...and i believe that day may never come. but hey, it's fun trying to figure everything out in the meantime.

    till later.

    smitten for the mitten...

ugh, i had to go to the mall today to try to find a gift for my co-workers. of course it was crowded since it's coming down to the wire to do some christmas shopping. for work we're doing something called a "white elephant" gift exchange. i didn't know what that was so they explained how it's suppose to be like gag gifts. i had no idea what to get. for the most part i think i suck at buying gifts. i just want people to really like what i give them that i worry about it too much and can never find that perfect gift. well, my mom and i headed off to the mall in search for this "white elephant." side-note: everytime i hear "white elephant" i think of a tiny elephant trinket or something like that. i love elephants so i would love that as a gift. how can an elephant be a bad gift? anyway, we went into a few stores and i still had no idea what to get. in the end we ended up going into spencer's. if i couldn't find a gag gift in there then i wouldn't find one anywhere. like every other store in the mall it was packed and hard to walk around. there we're a bunch of gag type stuff...but only a handful was appropriate for work. finally i found something i thought could work for a gift. here he is: it's this litte kung fu dude who kicks and talks. there are six saying and luckily i think they are all pretty "clean." it's says on the box for ages 5+ so that works. it's one of thoes things you'd never buy for yourself and never ask for as a gift. i feel like it's a really random gift but actually a little cute too.see how cute he is. i almost want to keep it. the plus was he was 50% which fit well into the price limit we had set. and i didn't end up wasting a load of money on something that only i would probably love to have gotten.
after finding the gift i was all for leaving the mall. i did not want to spend more time there than i had to. just way too much people. but before heading home we stopped at target. they had a sale on some of the winter wear stuff and so i checked out the gloves on sale. i ended up getting a pair:mittens! it kind of looks like an oven mit. i would have been all for plain black gloves but they didn't have any on sale. and their other solid color gloves were still a bit pricey. the fact that they're leopard print is just an added bonus. and while leopard print mittens are pretty awesome the reason i got these were:
they convert into fingerless gloves! and the thumb part even comes down too:so i bought them for around $7. i'm pretty much going to just use them for when i'm driving to work since it's so cold. i don't see where else i'd wear them so i wasn't looking to spend a lot. so this pair is pretty much perfect. i'm going to try them out on the drive tomorrow and see if they do the trick.

    till later.

these boots are made for walking...

i bought these boots today. they're sm new york and are called ryder. they were $75 but i got them for $30. i got them at mervyn's, who is going out of business, so they are having huge sales right now. their store closes in like a week so there isn't much left. but i love these boots. they will go very well with my motorcycle jacket and be perfect for this weather. i'm been wanting some new boots for awhile now but the ones i like have always been a litte a pricey so i'm happy to have found these. oh and their insides are lined with this pattern, cute:

    take time to realize...

i bought a trapper hat today. i've been wanting one every since i saw them sometime last year at banana republic. i would have gotten it then...however, it was $150. yeah, i don't know why i have been wanting one so badly. yesterday, this boy came in the store wearing one and i really wanted to asked him where he got it. and recently i some them again at target. and though they were only like $15 this time and really cute, i still couldn't bring myself to spend the $15 on it. but tonight i found one for $10. it's black and so soft and furry...faux fur of course. and though the weather has not been as cold as i wish, it will keep me warm when the time comes. either way, i've been hoping to add a trapper hat to my winter wear. as of late, i've been wearing my beret beanies whenever i'm not at work...if i knew it would be ok, i'd probably wear them to work too. right now i have 5 and find myself wanting to buy a new one everytime i see them. cold weather, i'm getting ready for you...so you better come soon. yeah, i get that i do live in california so it doesn't get that cold but still...it'll be colder than hawaii.

so this isn't a picture of mines...but it's pretty close. it's a funky sort of hat and that's probably why i like it so much.

    and just because...

i watched this last night and the first thing i thought was aw, pretty...the song, the candles, and ryan's haircut, haha.

on runner runner's youtube page they recently put up a bunch of cover songs to listen to.

    till later.

    find comfort in yourself...

my mom's hair appointment for today was for japanese hair straightening. she use to get it done on maui and finally found someone around here that does it, though riverside is a tad out of the way, it's close enough. i used to get my hair straightened too, but as of late i've been going the natural route.
anyway, the thing i like about driving to new places is just seeing what else is out there. the only downside is that since i'm driving i can't really take in the road side views.
since the hair straightening technique takes a few hours to do, i had some time to kill. so what to do? hit up the mall, i guess. i was able to find one, thanks to my little gps, i don't know what i would do without it. this one mall had a sanrio surprise store with one of those coin machines that sell the $1 hello kitty phone charms that i love so much. i ended up getting one. those things are addicting. everything i tell myself i should stop i keep wanting to get more. i'm pretty sure my charms outweigh my phone itself. it's a good thing there's not one over here or else i'd have 100s of them. i also ended up buying some tights and two knit beret/beanies, cream and royal blue, from forever 21 (which we do not have in my town).
there was still more time to kill so i went to another shopping center. this one had a big borders (my town only has a borders express but there is a big barnes and noble). and in there i found something i've been wanting to get for some time now...a mini christmas tree!
they had them in all different sizes and colors. i went back and forth in my mind trying to pick between a white tree and a black one. in the end i went with the black because it's different and i loved it so much. and to make things even better the trees were 40% off so it came out to like $3 something. i also ended up buying some pinkish/purple led lights. i'm thinking of doing some pink, purple, white decorations. now i just have to find some.

here's a photo that shows it's scale. i'm glad i went with the black. it goes with a lot of things in my room. i'm thinking that i might just leave the tree out all year long. it's so cute and tiny.and here what it looks like with my light off. i really like the led lights. i also had some problems as to which ones to get. there was clear, multi, and pink. i thought the pink would stand out nicely on the black tree. the lights were also 40% off.
and after all that, there was still more time left. i ended up stoping at a goodwill (which is also not in my town) that i happened to drive by. i ended up leaving with two items.
this was the first thing i saw that i wanted, a midtown sweatshirt. perfect for the cold weather coming up. though it's a bummer midtown is no longer together. at least there's cobra starship. for winter time i really want to get some funky sweaters so i'm keeping an eye out for them. though this one's not funky it was still a must have for the sheer fact it was a midtown sweatshirt.
then i saw this shirt. i knew just by looking at it that it was an obey shirt. i love shepard fairey's work. everytime i think of obey prints i think of next door in chinatown since their walls are covered with them. the shirt looked brand new and it was only $1.99. sold.
oh and i guess fairey's most recently well known print happens to be this one:after like three/four hours of exploring and shopping my mom was finally done. good thing too, i probably could have done a lot more shopping around.

when i finally got home i had a postcard waiting for me. it was from france, from jamie. i wish i could go there. one day, maybe.

    till later.
