    "Where's Fluffy?"

my mom and i had breakfast at ihop. i know it was free breakfast day at denny's and there's is one right down the road, but i have always been an ihop fan myself. plus, we did happen to pass that denny's (at two different times) and the line was mega long (both times). i hate waiting in lines and the fact i was pretty hungry was not going to make me love it more. ah, but i did learn it will be free pancake day at ihop on the 24th...though, if it was free hashbrown day i'd be more than down for that.
i also ended up renting nick & norah's infinite playlist from the red box at wal-mart. i've be wanting to watch it since it came out but never got the chance. i did enjoy it, like i had thought i would. omg, the awkwardness between nick and norah was pretty much perfect, too cute. i've had those kinds of awkward moments, i sort of actually like being in those moments...in fact, i miss it. anyway, i now want to buy this movie...and want to read the book.
i then went to work for 3 hours and taped grids onto vases. it was nice. i had my own little set-up out back. though, it was pretty hot out, nice but hot.
oh and i also bought myself a new curling iron. now if only i can wake myself up every morning to actually curl my hair.
    till later.

    thrift day...

interestingly enough, i ended wearing an outfit mostly made of items i've gotten at thrift stores:i got the knoxville/jackass shirt from savers on maui. i love, love, love jackass and johnny and wanted that shirt when they first came out but would have never actually buy it. well, seeing it at savers was like a sign and i had to get it. the skirt is from a thrift shop sort of near my working place. it an old navy shirt that was like two sizes too big but luckily that's an easy fix, plus it was half price (the whole store was 50%off) so it was like $3 or something. the glasses were also thrift. and though i usually living in my $2 white sunglasses, today i changed it up a bit. i got this pair at savers too. they're "blue max" and the "cool" thing about them is they make everything have like a yellow/amber tint to them. apparently they block out blue light, whatever that means.
i should have worn one of my thrifted shoes to make the outfit complete (i don't own thrifted tights/leggings). but i ended up finding these at the thrift store i went to today: a new pair of black boots! and when i say "new" i don't just me new to me but i'm pretty sure these boots were never worn (i mean i found the cardboard thingy in the toe part of one of the boots still). these are from the thrift shop i got the skirt at and everything in the store was still 50% off so the boots also came out to $3.also as of late, i've developed a habit of picking up flannel/checkered shirt from thrift shops. i don't know why. i got this one today. it more of a purple/lavender color.and i got this one last time. classic red and black. oh and you can totally see a little into my closet, which hangs another of my flannels i got at a thrift shop (maui).
ok enough about clothes. onto books. i always take a look at the books in hopes of finding something good/interesting. today i found these:
i think the main reason i liked this book was because it was tiny, maybe a just a little bigger than a playing card. and this was inside: so really it's dictionary without the definitions. and one of the things i like about use books is seeing if there is something about their past owners. in this book, on the last pages that were blank was some writing. one of them was a list entitled funeral cards sent with a list of names. interesting and sad.
i also got this book. the title sounded fimilar, like it was made into a movie of something, but i wasn't so sure. i ended up just getting it because it ended up being a quater. plus i mean look at that cover how could it not be awesome, haha. i later googled the title and it was made into a movie, a disney movie! i don't think i've seen it though, however, gregory smith is in it and i find that intriguing.and apparently this copy once belonged to a ms. burton, i'm thinking a teacher.
i also got this book about music and storytelling. it had stuff about robin hood, king arthur, pinocchio, and like other things.i especially like the drawings/picture in the book.and of course, inside the front cover someone had a little note, this book being a gift to someone.
and the best find of books:
a hard cover harry potter and the sorcerer's stone!!! i was late on the potter book train in the start and bought 1-5 in paperback (i actually got 1-4 as a set). but i have always wanted them in hard cover, just not willing to pay so much for them. i got for $3 (original priced for $6). how could anyone give this up? who would give this up:

aw, it was a chirtmas gift. "hope you enjoy this -" looks like they didn't.i'm hoping this person already had a copy and/or read the book beforehand. because for real, this book was brand new. i mean it even still have the price sticker on...maybe it was a gift that never got given?i doubt it means anything special but it is a first american edition copy. what i did know was how on the copyright page there was a little summary section: rescued from the outrageous neglect of his aunt and uncle, a young boy with a great destiny proves his worth while attending hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. and i don't know why but i find it funny that it says schools - fiction. england - fiction. i know it probably means something, i mean i get how fantasy, witches, and wizards are listed as fiction but schools and england, huh?

ah, heroes is finally back on. sylar is still a badass and oh so gorgeous. and ando! love him. can't wait too see what this chapter has to offer. the plane crash kept me thinking of lost though.

and gossip girl also came back with something new, unlike last week. however, i hear both gg and oth are going a long break again. ugh. well, i guess it'll give me a chance to catch on on big bang theory and how i met your mother. and i won't have to worry much about switching between heroes and oth.

    till later.

    long days and stargaers...

i've come to the conclusion that stargazer/starfighter lilies are probably my favorite flowers. not only are the beautiful but the smell amazing. (the blue orchids are quiet pretty too, though)

today was the second night in a row that i left work later than usual. as the days get closer to v-day, things just start to pile up and gets busier and busier. hopefully, i make it out of this fake holiday ok, haha.

but getting to take home flowers are always a joy. i usually get to take home a bunch every so often and give them to my mom. but i keep a stem or two in a vase on my night table/self-made stool next to my bed.

    lovely.

    till later.

every good painter paints what he is...

    dear google,
thank you for letting me know that today was jackson pollock's birthday.i had always been intrigued by his art and his method. last spring i took a contemporary art history class that i just loved. all the artist, all the artwork, everything was fascinating. and of course pollock was one of the first artist we learned about, my first paper centering mainly on him. anyway, it was a pleasant surprise to see this when i went on google today:haha, my first thought when i saw that was, wtf? did google just pull a pollock? is it his birthday or something? and yes, it was. this has to be one of my favorite of their altered logos. i bet there's a page somewhere that shows them all, huh? oh and what was even cooler (because i'm dorky and find things like this cool) is that when you go to jacksonpollock.org it's a blank white screen but when you click and move you're mouse around you get to create a drip painting yourself. mine's is not nearly as amazing as a pollock, but it was pretty fun to make:i hope to one day see a pollock in person. and i believe there is one at the museum of contemporary art in los angeles. hopefully, i make my way over there soon.till later.

    the no-brainer...

spent all day in bed and now i'm watching fringe.
    lazy. lazy. lazy.
i started watching this show last week. i've been fan of joshua jackson since his mighty ducks days and pacey was the only likeable thing on dawson's (even when jensen joined the cast) and so i wanted to watch it when it first started but never caught it...until last week. i must say, though somewhat distrubing, e.g., gaint slugs coming out of people's mouths and people's brains coming out of their ears, it is quite interesting. damn, jj abrams, stop making me want to watch your stuff. first lost, now this, and let's not even get started on star trek (i'll spare you yet another zachary quinto rant). i do enjoy the fact that right before fringe goes to commercial, they give you a heads up of how long the break it...and it's usually way shorter than usual. more show, less breaks, that's a plus in my book.great, yet another show i'm going to get hooked on (maybe). now, i need to play catch-up...with this show, with this blog, and with this life.
    till later.

    11:11 PM (CST)

this boy walked into the flower shop today to order a corsage. no biggie, right? right. that's standard, especially since winter formal is coming up. as i took down his name i noticed that his last name was cullen. omg, you don't even know how hard it was for me to control myself from blurting out anything and everything about twilight. yeah, i didn't want to be that girl. i bet there have been a few teenage girls in his classes that have already pointed out such connections to him already. sadly though, he was no edward, or emmett, or jasper, or even carlisle for that matter.
anyway, tonight, supernatural decided to use one of my favorite words over and over again within the show. "douche bag". i mean "criss angel is a douche bag"...amazing title. i couldn't believe that was the real deal when i first heard it but it was! ah, perfection. and even though, pete wentz thinks that word is outdated and overused, i don't care (pun may or may not be intended). everytime i use it, say it, or hear it, i can't help but smile a little both on the inside as well as the outside. yeah, i'm a dork...deal. haha. oh and the guy that played jeb tonight, he looks so familar and was so hot. it's had to be the eyeliner. i guess it's still a weakness.
and then i watched l.a. ink. which only leaves me longing for a tattoo. one day (hopefully). but on tonight episode nick wheeler from the all-american rejects got a tattoo. cute his dog. everytime i see him i think about how amazing he is when he's playing his guitar. i don't normally think he's like super hot or anything but when he plays his guitar...oh.my.gosh. as laura would say, "he is the sex." i've got to see aar play three time (all in 2006) and each time i stood right in front of him. he's just super bendy and stuff, hot. plus, i caught two of his picks, one of his towels, and met him twice. he's was really chill. i now leave you with a pic spam of some of my concerts photos (because they make me happy and entries are always better with photos):
my favorite photo i took of him.see, bendy.we also often tend to make eye contact when he's on stage...
different show. same smile. same connection. haha.and this was the second time we met. this time with laura. aw, he's super sweet.
many good times. i keep meaning to pick up (or download) the new aar record but just haven't yet. maybe sometime soon. and maybe then i'll finally stop with the non-stop fob's fad...cause that can't be all i listen to, right.
    till later.

my president is black, in fact he's half white...

    3 days --
5 trips to the mall --
2 iced chai lattes with soy --
    1 awesome coffee sleeve --
    2 (3, if counting my mom's) yummy cupcakes --
    6 radio shack workers --
2 ac adapters (neither of which was mines) --
and finally, the dvd player is now back in action: geez, so much trouble for such a little thing. any guesses as to what's/who's on screen...hmm. anyway, like i stated above i got another cupcake today. i seriously grab the local paper now just for the coupon. good thing the paper's free (and i know where to get them, my work being one of the places). this time my mom got one too. i got the same thing from yesterday and my mom got a vanilla cupcake with cream chesse and graham crackers. next time i go back i'm getting something different...i was just so frazzled (yeah, i don't know why) i couldn't think about trying something new.

My president is black, in fact he’s half white
So even in a racists mind he's half right
If you got a racists mind you'd be alright
My president is black but his house is all white
Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk
Martin Luther walked so Barack Obama could run
Barack Obama ran so all the children could fly
So Ima spread my wings you can meet me in the sky

the ladies at the shop have some interesting political conversations with each other. i just tend to hang back and do more listening than talking. i just rather take the positive outlook on things now. it makes life livable...hopefully, i can keep that up.

and now i'll return to being lost while watching lost.

    till later.
